4th Gear dropping revs on 2003 Golf Auto

    Hi all,

I noticed this yesterday (Monday) on my 2003 Mk4 Golf 2.0, Auto gearbox. The car drives fine in 1,2,3 gears but seems to short shift into 4th. Then going at around 60-80Km/h on a straight level road (haven't tried higher speeds), the revs drop below 2000, like maybe 1700. When giving a bit of throttle the car seems to struggle to go up in revs, like its going up hill in a high gear, only giving more harder throttle then it only kicks back into 3rd and feels more responsive.

Does anyone know of this issue? could it be TPS or a electronic issue? My golf has done 197 000k's and no other issue apart from a droning sound coming from the exhaust which I'm getting a whole new cat back next Monday

    Thanks in advance

Don't know if the mk 4 speed has an overdrive built in? I could be a million miles out
