2003 Golf SED 1.6L Idle Issue

    Hey everyone,

I have recently bought a new Golf 2003 1.6l SED and it seems to be having some problems. Rather than try to explain it I took a quick video:

The car also smelt like fuel outside after opening the window whilst taking this video. Also I notice at around 17sec the car almost stalls and the battery light comes on.

Anyone had this problem before and know a fix?

    Cheers

    Now I know I'm a dinosaur - I can't view the video because I'm not on Facebook

The red light is because you have the parking brake on.
The battery light came on because the engine died and stopped the alternator from spinning which stopped the current from flowing to the battery ie no charge to battery for a split second.

There are so many things that could be wrong, fuel pressure, vac leak, ignition, spark plug, coil pack or timing issues.
You need to perform a proper fault scan, so take it to a VW specialist, plenty in Sydney.
or hit up a forum member who has the gear to scan it for you. Offer them beer or the chance to talk **** about cars for a while etc...

    Vacuum Leak.
Bring it to our specialised VW Workshop at Campbelltown and I will diagnose it for free and fix it for a fair price.
