2002 Mk4 Golf Door locks staying locked

    Hey guys,

My girlfriend is having issues with 2 doors in her mk4 golf staying locked at all times. When you use the remote to unlock the car the rear right and front left stay locked, you cant even try to pull up the locking knob or use the inside door handle to open the door.

I have had a look online and it seems like these cars its a common issue, but mostly for the pre 2002 models. I found this thread Link and was wondering if it would work on a 2002 model or if anyone else knows what might be causing it and how to get it fixed? Or anyone know someone in Brisbane who could fix this annoying problem.

I'd be stunned if that isn't it. Hardest part getting the door open or the trim off. I think you can do the fronts but the rear is mission impossible.

    Get new locks first
Then have someone inside pulls the handle over and over while someone outside pulls on the outer handle over and over until it opens.
then go to town replacing the module.

This is not just a Mk4 issue it still happens today in the newer models also.

Sounds like the latches have died in the locked position.

Gotten front ones open, but not rears on a MK4. Nearly always requires drilling a hole in the door itself behind the trim.
