2002 Bora V5 Stereo/CD/Aux-in Replacement Options
Now that my car is working and my suspected engine is not toast...I was thinking about a replacement stereo/cd/aux imput.
My car has a standard Eurovox...the was a stacker in the boot (which never worked) and the head unit has a cassette deck. So, apart from my Billy Idol, Bruce Springsteen tapes I don't use it much.
Does anyone have any advice on replacing these? I'd like it to suit the look and style of the car (tan leather/faux (real?) wood dash). I'd like a cd and, more importantly, an aux input to play my media player (no, not an iPod).
Any suggestions?
Troy.

I bought a JVC KD-R926BT for my Bora.
What I liked about this one was that you could select from heaps of colour combinations, so I could very closely match the colours of the head unit with the dash and climate control colours. So at night it's a blue display with red buttons and it looks VERY close to OEM.
Plus it has other nice features such as Bluetooth, AUX input, direct ipod control....in fact check it out on the net....

If you would like me to I can get a pic later on of what it looks like in the car?

Those specs are pretty sweet. I want it.
What did it cost to get installed?
Would love to see how it looks in the car.

It cost around $100 to get it installed because they had to run the mic for the bluetooth up the A pillar.
If you have the time and inclination it's apparantly not that hard to DIY, there should be guides around.
I think I also paid an extra couple of bucks for the pocket to go in above it, because I had the 6 stacker CD player there.
I've just snapped a couple of photos with the phone. If I remember I'll do a night shot for you when it's dark so you can see how the colours look.
I've only found two negatives with this head unit compared to an older Pioneer model I had and they're pretty minor.
1. It doesn't 'remember' the connection to your iPod when you switch to the radio or CD player. So when you switch back to the iPod it takes a few seconds to connect again instead of going straight back into the music.
2. The display only shows one line of ID3 tags - as in just the title or just the artist, not both at the same time. Not a dealbreaker but coming from my old H/U which showed 2 lines - ie. Artist above Title, it's a bit annoying.
Hope this helps
Edit: People who ride in the car with me at night always think it's a factory option

Sorry forgot all about this until now.
Here's a quick snap of it in the dark.
In real life it looks like the same colour of the dash lights, for some reason didn't show up as well in the photo.

hey guys
i installed a kenwood radio into my 2003 bora. same problem you had with the cd stacker not working.
Price was set at $260 with an $80 install for jb hi fi however they charged me just $260 and included install for free.
oso far i haven't had any problems with it.
came with 2 RCA outs and both front and back aux inputs. the front has both usb and aux..
great headunit! it has improved the sound of the system dramatically. the stock speakers and bass are great in the car.
i will post some pictures later.
