    2001 MK4 1.6 SR engine swap/install

Going to be posting the engine swap/install in my 01 1.6 SR, everything is detached and it's currently waiting on an engine crane so i can pull it out and clean up the engine bay before installation.
It's been a bit of a pain considering I don't have heaps of money to fork out for it and i'm not a mechanic so don't really know what i'm doing so easiest way to learn is to do it.

I ran into trouble when i was pulling onto the freeway and i managed to snap something which i'm assuming was the piston rod(conrod?), which then busted a few holes in the sump and cylinder block

but she's finally ready to come out and will hopefully be cleaning up and parting off any bits and pieces left over eg. old engine parts etc

Once it's out and the new ones in I can clean it up pull it apart and work out what's useable to sell.

By the way does anyone have a spare assembly bracket for the alternator, AC compressor etc?

    Finally the engine is out!

Also I'm trying to change my front springs and the only way I see it happening is if I bash the strut out of the hub assembly

    Any hints or tips?

Also trying to give everything a quick cleanup tomorrow before I put the new engine in but wasn't sure if I should just spray everything with degreaser or if there's a method I could just wipe all the dirt, grease etc away?

Also does anyone know whether my assembly plate will be sweet to just bolt on to the new engine?

Drop the subframe on one side to get a bit more clearance. OR try to compress the spring a bit. Looking at the pic you only have about 1cm to go.

I've undone the drop links at both sides but the spring compressors I've got don't fit inside the wheel well too good so im thinking I will try the subframe drop and keep hitting the hub assembly til it's free and drop the whole strut out.
Also about to start installing the new engine today so I can give the engine crane back
