2001 Golf 2.3 v5 - parts and service

A friend of mine wants to buy 1, but he's a bit worried about availability of parts and service costs. Is there any shops in Australia that will have the normal maintenance parts readily available or will it have to be imported? Also where can he find a bentley or heynes manual for that engine?

is it the same engine as the bora V5? If so then im sure parts would be readily available

yes it's the same but the bora v5 is also scarce around australia. Is there any places around that stock v5 parts or are some service parts the same as the GTI or r32?

Most service parts are readily available.

We just wrecked a V5 Bora and have an engine, Gearbox and most other bits available.

OK nice, thanks guys will pass the info on. The 1 he wants to buying has high mileage, he's just worried about replacement parts if and when something breaks.
