There are OBD, what are you trying to read it with?
Ross-Tech: Home VCDS leads work and there's plenty of other OBD tools that can do it too.

As the title says. Is this normal for all beetles?

I'm trying to use the vagcom program that came with the cable
That's why you have an obd plug. Try to interrogate other systems, if you can't you either haven't set your cable up right or your k line is down on the car
Check the led status on the cable if it's red comms are down
Jmac
The blue light comes on when i plug it in but it just won't do anything else and says it's not obd2 compatible. Il try a different program tonight and see what happens
ross tech isnt compatible with my cable. it says port test ok interface not found. vag com 409.1 connects but says not obd2 compatible if it vehicle is vw or audi try individual controllers but they just fail too.
what other programs can i try?
Interesting point. I now have 3 programs made by Ross tech. Strange coincidence or **** products/programing
There's nothing wrong with the software. Using a non-genuine cable is where you're problem is.
The cable looks fine. In electrical terms there is no reason why the cable would stop it working unless it has the wrong resistor in it. Does anyone except rosstech make a program?
