    2001 2.0 petrol golf wont start, turns over but no spark at the spark plugs - help!

    Can someone help pls, car has been running perfect and now just wont start. Turns over but no spark.

    Crankshaft position sensor has probably failed.

    See if you can get the car scanned for fault codes, and go from there.

    Thanks but I live 20k's out of town so getting it to a dealer to read the codes is not an option. Where would i find this sensor pls and is there any other way to see if it is working.?Ok I know where the sensor is now (google) but would this sensor not working cause no spark?

    Yes, the ECU has no idea where the crank is. Game over.
