Nothing interesting today, engine breather on these 1.6's are notoriously weak and fall apart usually. and mine did this morning so here is my ghetto fix because $100 for the bit of plastic is crazy. some 90 degree rubber hose and a mini filter works a treat.

You can't see in the photo but where the breather goes to the intake i cut off and plastic welded it up. next update will probably be replacing the airbag clock spring and if i can find one a bora 3 spoke wheel.

clutch started slipping on the way home.then I smelt the gear oil. By the looks of it the.DUU has given way. Depending on how much it'd going to be i might take the time and swap a better engine into it.

What a shame! I like how you see the positive side of things though

It would be interesting to see pictures of the fail if you can get them!!

I read on here the DUU box is compatible with a whole bunch of other VW boxes like from the Beetle, and Audi etc

What's done is done. i suppose whinging and complaining wont help me so i'll look at the bright side.

It's currently sitting on my nans front yard waiting for dad to get it on a hoist so he can find exactly what went wrong. i'll make sure to get some pictures for you. i'll have a search on what box's fit if i can find one real cheap happy days! if not then ill think about maybe a 1.8t swap or something different like a V5. inb4 people saying "swap it for a gti it's much easier"

Long time no update. Car is fixed for now. matt at Camden gti was such a great help. after the first gearbox had a crack around the drive shaft seal he swapped it for another straight away. got it re registered and away we go. would have liked to gti swap it and not worry about the gearbox letting go again but unfortunately i couldn't find one in my budget anywhere in time.

Car is now re registered and back at a respectable height.
also here is a couple of photos for fun.

At vw getting an airbag light cleared.

    Crappy but cool rolling shot.

And my new toy 318is manual. 1 owner & full log books.

Annnnd i probably wont post anything else for a little while. im pretty boring
