2000 gti new muffler, but something is not right

Hi I really need some help working this out, or help in pointing me in the right direction.

Just installed a Remus muffler and had the middle muffler removed at the same time, sounds great feels good low in the revs.

But it feels like I've lost power in the top end flooring it in 3rd feels gutless compared to before, and I'm not seeing the same levels of boost from 3rd gear upwards, is this normal???

It just doesn't feel as quick as before, please help??

Forgot to add it has a stock downpipe and cat still on, and its chipped with a turbosmart div dual port valve

Can't see how removing the middle muffler would have done that, unless there's a hole in the exhaust, or the exhaust guys left a dirty rag in the exhaust.

Do you have a boost guage to know you're not getting the same levels of boost?
Also get rid of the restrictive stock downpipe.

Yeah I have a boost gauge put it in a few weeks ago.

It was giving me stable readings of 17 to 18 psi in 4th and 5th gear and now its only hitting around 13 to 14 psi if im lucky.

On another note when I got the car back from the shop I re oiled the div and replaced the vacuum hose from the fpr which was really brittle like the hose I had to place the t junction in for the boost gauge, (hope im explaining this right) anyway I just tested the vacuum hose to the div and its really sucking now, before it was lucky to stick to the end of my finger if at all so im thinking there was a leak.

Could it be that the div piston is now set to loose now the vacuum is higher due to no more leaks and I should tighten it??

You could try removing and blocking the DV vac hose and do a quick run and see how much boost it makes. Thing is though it shouldn't be under vacuum at full load and so shouldn't be causing the boost leak (unless the VW's work differently to a 'normal' setup).

Depending on where in the circuit the wastegate is, if the pressure line the wastegate is plumbed into was leaking boost then the wastegate would've opened later as it is seeing less pressure(the leaking line would've acted like a bleed valve boost controller)

Changing this line to one that didnt leak would've in effect removed that boost bleed thus reduced boost as the boost pressure the wastegate see's is no longer incorrectly too low.

Without knowing the plumbing of vac / boost lines in your setup cant be sure though.

Tried to take some pics tonight but there not enough to get a good shot.

Anyway I reset the ecu again and rechecked the hose clamps on the div and tightened it a little more and things seem a lot better wont know for sure until I do a few more km but its better than before.

Thanks guys for the help, I will let you know how things are going in a few days, cheers.

Hi, I have a turbosmart dual port dv set 70-30, and I disconnected the battery for 10 mins to reset the ecu, its still running like crap, I'm saving for a down pipe I'm hoping that helps things, also waiting on new boost hoses intake pipe etc.

I'm a bit gutted that's its proformance has gone downhill I'm hoping I get it back with the next few changes, help help in the mean time would be great.
