Nash, I have heard a lot of good reports about the Giac chip. They report an expected gain of about 7 - 10hp but a chip is so much more than gains, it should make the car more drivable for the enviroment you are in. I disagree all chips are the same, there are so many different factors influencing the cars drivabilty, timing, fueling etc. If you get it wrong you could cause a lot of problems.

GIAC give you a five day try out as I am sure most other chip dealers would to.

The VWVortex forums have a lot of reports on different chips for the VR6 Engines. As far as I know, the American Jetta GLI VR6 is nearly exactly the same as our 4motion V6's, but I couldn't be 100% sure, probably some minor differences designed for Australia.

Cheers for the heads up, I might get a trial on the Revo and Giac next week and see what i like best. I think the revo sounds better though from reading a few threads. Ill keep you posted on my progression!

I was also thinking of getting an exhaust imported from america as they are a lot cheaper there than what ive been quoted over here. Maybe Miltek, GHL or Nuespeed. All going for around $650 plus delivery. Would anyone be interested in a group buy!?

This increase for an normally aspirated engine is huge, I have attached info on Milltek Sport exhausts and a photo of one of our preferred air kits."

Do you think 35KW is a bit of s*#t?
i have done some research about a setup including headers, full exhaust and software upgrade that are quiet popular on the r32's. The dynos show about 205-210kw on the r32's and i believe they are around 175 stock (please correct me r32 owners if im wrong) so thats an increase of around 30kw at least and apparently the gains for a v6 bora are quiet similar. Having said this im not sure what you have been quoted for the above work but this setup runs into the $8000+ mark.. ouch. definately not enough bang 4 bucks IMO

I did the CAI intake today and KNN Pod Filter. All done for $170 from Autoone. Chrome piping too! Came up really good. Ill be posting some pics over the next couple of days. Ive got the eyelids and tinted tail lights and getting some 19s over the next few days.

What other mods have you guys done that you recommend? Also what chips do we reccomend on these cars. Ive spoken to a few places and they/ve said the 2.8's are very untunable. Is this true?

P.S. Post some pics if you can!

    Cheers

    Hey....
I'm pretty slow on the performance mods so far, I've only done the cosmetic things like :
Black tail lights & side markers
    angel eye headlights
    mesh kamei grille
7in DVD/6 stack, boston speakers, 12in sub, alpine v12 amp.

But I'm almost in the market for some 19's. Not sure what else gonna do, just some basic things.
Hey Nashan with your CAI and KNN, I'm guessing that to be able to do it for $170 you did it urself? thats prob the next things for me but assumed much more than that

Yeah sure did, took a while as you've gotta cut a small bit of plastic out to get the piping through and its not exactly to easiest spot to get to. Not noticable though. O and to answer the question on whether it drives ok when its wet ive had no problems. Was pissing down the other day and no problems whatsoever. Prob wouldnt wanna take it through a river or into the ocean for that matter!
