2.0l bora fuel economy

is this normal, my sons bora is getting 9.6 l/100k from easy brisbane city driving?
getting around 520k's out of a tank

Does sound a bit high, but depends on how its been driven.

How many km? Blowing smoke or temp gauge off a bit?

My fuel economy went up when my maf, o2 sensor or thermo stat was on the way out

Auto or manual?

it's a manual with about 220k on the clock.
it was running at 12.5L, (450K'S per tank) and very sooty
had a fault code up which was reset, bringing it back to a steady 9.6

[Umai Naa!!]

Used to get 700 or so out of a manual Golf equivilant.

Mostly freeway driving, though.
