The VAG 1.8t is one of those legendary engines that just keeps giving. Unlike the massive lump of steel us 4mo owners call a donk the 1.8 is relatively cheap to extract stupid amounts of power from, the engine config is also one that we didnt get in AU for what ever reason. In saying this I have only owned a couple of 4 bangers in my time and just love the sound and torque that a 6 or 8 can provide without the turbo. Of course this comes with the sacrifice of a dozen baby animals dying each time I put my foot down, a sacrifice I can live with

    We want pics !!

When I 1st saw this, i thought you created my dream... S3 1.8T in the bora 4mo. Given both 8L S3 and Bora/R32 share the same 4mo architecture, this should be a similiar swap to your project. Why would you do it? Because its cant be bought.

The AWD 1.8T is a bit of a trickier conversion. I plan on doing that as well. Just don't know if I'll do it before or after the engine build. In short to get it all the work you need to run the Engine on an Audi Quatro box off either a MK1 TT or some other A4 chassis with a 4 cylinder

I was actually referring to swapping the 4mo VR6 for the 1.8T S3.. logic being lighter engine in the front should help with balance.

some one correct me but was the Mk1 TTq released with the S3 1.8T? I think it was the 225HP variant.

The s3 engine and gearbox will slot directly into an existing 4mo and this has been done in the uk with fantastic results. Stock engine with a tune and slightly bigger turbo is offering something silly like 180fwkw. Finding a good engine would be the challenge, finding a complete donor chassis to do the swap into a fwd body would be even more of a challenge but definately doable

Sure you can, if you have the $ to pull it off. A nice intake, exhaust, set of lumpy ass cams, a little headwork, bore the block out to 2.9 or so and chuck some whopping big pistons in there, get more fuel into the engine and then tune the hell out of it all. Would cost a fortune but anything is possible with enough money.

need to dig up the build thread, but I beleive Lonewolf in Perth recorded ~200 atwkw in his Bora 4mo, TT cams, ECU tune and exhaust alone. Its still a heavy front end.

Are you sure thats not at the fly? The last dyno I went to (the one before last) a mk4 r32 with cams, exhaust, P&P, giac made 173kw at all four so 200kw from a 2.8 bora is hard to believe.
