That makes depressing reading. I dont see why a corrado which was never sold here and which can easily be complied to adr shouldn`t be ion the exception list though. I`m ringing canberra......
I reckon this would be the most up to date:

There was a rule that you could not import a car if it was officially imported here. As Corrados are really Golfs, according to the beurocrats in Canberra, they can only be imported under the personal import scheme. If you import a car without the correct paperwork, it will be sent back at your expense!
This may not be the same in 2006, but it did stop a group of people importing Corrados previously.
Anyone with more information please post it on the forum.
Aaaah but they are not golfs if they now have a different entry on the RTA computer.

Sent an email.
There is a list of vehicles ineligable for the SEVS list here

without the corrado on it. Thus more lobbying needed I`d say.

Canberra called back. the Corrado is on the eligibility list for import. What needs to happen is a workshop needs to apply to be the RAW to do the mods to allow them to be complied to ADRs.
Once a workshop is accepted as a RAW, the car can be added to the SEVS list and that workshop can import Corrados.
Once it is on the SEVS list for one workshop, others can import them too!
Anyone with a registered workshop up for the job?
The cost was somewhere in the region of $1500 per car for RAW compliance. Cheers Mr Howard!

thats exactly what i already said about 3 pages ago!
only prob is a workshop wont apply under the RAWS scheme unless they know they are gonna get their money back. would have to be at least 10 cars id say b4 they recoup costs as there are fees involved.
so yeah. if there was enuf interest it could be done. but people would need to be willing to put their money where their mouth is. not just say ohhhh i wish i had a corrado
Yeah I reckon 10 people paying a deposit would make it feasible. Probably have to be contracts. And then organize 10 cars to be imported. Not impossible, but where are the eager buyers. If the cars cost $15k, who`d have one?

australia wide i dont think u would have any trouble selling them. I wouldnt bat an eyelid if i was offered one at 15k.
I wouldnt underestimate the enthusiast interest in this car.
I think it will cost a bit more than 15k all up especially if people want good clean straight ones, vr6 etc. There are a lot of crappy ones around the uk.
On another note, when i registered mine the lady at the transport office said there was a corrado registered already in QLD running on gas. I asked here whereabouts it was but she would not say.
