Thread: new beginnings...

Yeah, and totally my own fault which just makes me feel worse. The adaptors are just loaners from a friend while I got an alignment done and get it measured for my own adaptors which will be slightly fleshier

thanks been a bit busy with work lately to get any work done on the car although Ive a few bits arriving for the mk1 soon. But some work stuffs pics to keep the thread interesting

these were my sisters ronal teddies that she asked me to polish a long while ago after I acid dipped them

gave them a runover with a satin mop

    which isnt a clean job...

    then a quick polish

but the plastic caps were an issue

bought some billet and got it chopped and turned up as I intended making some polisheable centres

had a set of splits come through the work that awakened a dormant beast id had a hankering to cut up a spare set of 15" pirellis to make into a set of split rims for long enough but this was like kizmet or something

only issue was finding another set of the og wheels to use as donors plus the lips I tried were 17's...then I came across a couple sets of 15" splits that looked like they would work and would be more acceptable sizewise on my sisters polo...

got carried away convoluting and over-engineering round potential issues then spotted a very simple solution through a forum, got in touch with the guy and presto...back on track. These wheels were originally for my sisters old car(6n polo)so in the interim while I hummed and hawwed her upgrade to a 6n2 gti to celebrate a promotion at work kinda vetoed her thoughts of these wheels reaching her car....

invigorated by the new inspiration I got jiggy with the grinder

blagged some lathe time at my old fabshop which my old boss graciously put up with, basically I was supposed to pick up the lathe fixment tool at the show I was at from the above rolling shots but it was forgotten and long story short I got it delivered at the start of last week and had fairly short time to use the lathe as my old boss is heading back to the middle east as part of his new job, queue a weeks worth of very late nights....

first centre fiitting into the barrel was a seminal moment for me,20 months in the planning and sourcing

rear of all four centres machined
