Best to swap the OG pdi sump for the hybrid surely?
PDi engines are actually unusual to come across in breakers. Most of the breakers round my way automatically pull the engines complete Theyre still a fairly expensive engine to pick up second hand
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

I was talking to my mate today who is running a hybrid alu/steel sump on his and worked out that a hybrid sump sent to Oz would only run to @300 AusD(301.50ish)...........
Kev runs this bora on coils
and hasnt done a sump in yet
my other mate scott runs a similar set up on his pd bora as well

Just went through this thread from start to finish, absolutely admire your work!
All the Scottish dubbers know each other aye? Ian's Mk3 has always been an inspiration for my old Mk3!
golfman just gimme a shout and ill sort something out
ray thank you ,ian stays about 10 minutes from me,he's done the shoots for two of my mag features and ive probably known him for going on 6-7 years or more but scotlands not really that big hahaha. Theres a small core of us from Falkirk and the surrounding area with a few far flung like minded nutters and the banter can get quite epic. Weve got a little forum and stuff and just get on with our own stuff mostly.
If it wasnt for mates it would be a lonely old game
no worries will do I've got the one I punctured there, Im going to weld it up and have it as a spare. I've got $2100 worth of bills for the Polo coming up this month. VW's I tell ya!
Sounds quite like the Melbourne scene. A core bunch of regulars that get together and talk endless crap. Wouldn't have it any other way!
I most likely wouldn't still own a VW if it wasn't for the friends I have in the scene. Just a good crowd

Ive got two punctured 32s im going to plate up and reinforce with chequer plate, need to return one to the guy who let me borrow his and ill sell on the other one to re-coup some off the money from the 7 loads off oil and the single sump I had to buy (4 dead sumps+3 flushes). Ive got the head gasket bill looming which will include valve stem oil seals, piston rings, shells and a skim(possibly shricks if I can find a second hand set....would be rude not too :p ),my road tax is up at the end off the month and I have a serious need for front bushes and engine mounts so a dear month coming up for me as well hahaha
Theres definately benefits in having a decent group of mates you know you can pretty much rely on I still reckon ill be in an old VW(or possibly a bmw 2002)in 15 years though hahaha although ive got a right hankering for a GS400 as a daily for a bit of lux and a lot more reliability although the lexus will probably end up a Phaeton
