    Importing parts

Don't think there is any weight rule for importing parts. I have imported stack of stuff from the US and the UK but have never paid any.

There is no problem getting small things sent airmail. Anything big costs heaps especially spending dollars and takes three months.
Have you looked at a RoRo Ferry? Drive to Southampton, put it on a ferry and collect at Sydney.
Brackie. I reckon there would be heaps of not rusted VWs in the UK of that age. Mk1s will be rooted, or expensive, but I reckon there`d be lots of Mk2 GTIs and 16vs that wouldnt be too bad. And hopefully a Scirocco.

    .

Just got a quote for under £900 for this ! The reason i wasn't gonna use it was because i read that you can't put anything in the car - however this company has said i can fill the boot and possibly more, just need to speak to them later. It takes a bit longer this way (52 days IIRC) but thats cool cos it gives me a bit more time to get a job and unit WITH secure parking !!

Theres now a register of 'Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles'. The law states that if a car is on this register a car can be bought overseas for selling in Australia............the only VW on the list so far is the Corrado !!

    We need more Corrados!
On the subject of "Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles" I reckon it should be extended to any model not officially imported into Oz including diesel versions of petrol-engined cars that are. Maybe we shpuld get together with the members of other internet forums and car clubs and put some pressure on the pollies to do something. (I'm serious...who does this country belong to, anyway?? Us!)

Thats a good idea brackie and would include Mk2s. I think legislation in intended to stop a wave of grey imports from Japan.

    Cooling system

Yeah. Make sure that your cooling system is top-notch. You'll find out why on your first 40 degree day!

I`d soak the whole car in fish oil before despatching it on a ship for 3 months.
