love this idea... like an HSV ute but for Vanners!
With the release of limited edition commercial models at the budget end of the price scale I was wondering if any here would be interested in the opposite, a special edition with a high spec level, say: alloys, painted bumpers, satnav and mfc steering wheel, trip computer, reverse camera, protection bars/tow bar, and maybe one or two other things?

When I bought my T5 4Motion back in 2005, I bought it with quite a few options then, and would do it again, but I don't think that we ever get the options that I want. Like V6 TDI or at least 5 cylinder that VW don't put in T5 anymore, front and rear difflocks, off road raised suspension and full under body metal plates, of course cameras all around and all other electronics to make the everyday driving and parking easier.
I would expect that in 2012 it should be possible to order any feature that is available in other VAG made car or maybe VW just wait until Japanese or Korean manufacturers beat them to it.
At the moment the Vito with V6 CDI looks much better option. I just hope that when the time comes and I need to replace my T5, that VW will listen and will have V6 TDI in T5 or Crafter.

I agree Transporter. I know our ADR's have a bearing on what comes here as does the need to compliance the different models/features however when I once tried to go through VW Germanys website configuration pages for the T5 when updated to GP is was staggering what was available in the way of options and combo's. VW and Merc play in the "premium" end however evey new model of the Koreans gets better for features and value and you can't keep trading on your brand image in the commercial field when people don't/won't spend the money. And service costs are also getting too high in comparison.
Talking about the servicing cost. These Korean cars are very expensive when it comes to genuine servicing parts, like filters. They also have the DPF's and require expensive engine oils.
How is the 30,000km service on Hyundai Santafe 2.2CRDi for over $600 as quoted by Hyundai delaer? Their vans will be as expensive to service as their passenger cars.

that actually seems pretty cheap to me in comparison.
We seem to be getting some nice models under the "R" models maybe a multivan R with a larger engine 4 motion etc.
Sort of like a v6, 6 spd manual 4 motion
Any options except for the auto rear doors, impressive at first, then slowly decsend to failure.
