Woohoo… just joined the dub club… new Multivan

    Hi everyone,

Great forum here, did a bit of snooping around vwwa whilst researching our purchase and found it very helpful.

Here it is, new Multivan comfortline TDI 4motion. We’ve had it less than a month but so far very pleased with it.

Initially we were looking at low K’s second hand but I really wanted a manual and they are rare as hens teeth, so we dug into the finances a bit deeper and went new.

Done one long trip to Adelaide in it so far and averaged 9.3L/100km, the rest of the time its been short trips and start stop driving so usage has been about 12L/100km (trip computer said 10.9L/100km). It sits on the road well and the TDI torque makes driving a joy, the drivers seating position, gear and steering wheel layout is fantastic, really comfortable.

At this stage its got way more room than what we need but I can see it getting filled up pretty quickly as the kids get bigger. The flexible interior was one of the reasons we chose the multivan over other 7-seater options, there is plenty of room and it’s a breeze getting the kids in and out.

Got the windows tinted the other day, 18%(I think) on the rear glass, with the internal shades up it you can hardly see inside, Ill put some pic’s of the tint up when I get a chance.

    Cheers,

    Ben.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum, Ben. Enjoy your stay here, go on some of the local cruises or to meets, and if you have questions ... just ask, someone should be able to help you.

    Cheers,

Glad to see you are enjoying your new purchase!

This is the sort of thing we will be getting when we get to OZ.

    More than likely second hand...

We have had a T4 multivan in th UK.

Can i ask what sort of money you paid for a new van out there?
(send me private message if you like)

Did you get any of the extras?

Does anyone have a list of the OZ extras?
Are they the same as in the UK?

I have been purchasing bits to bring over with us...

    Thanks for the welcome

    Rob,

you may already be aware of them but here are some good car web sites in au that list both new and used vehicles
    http://www.carsales.com.au/
    http://www.carpoint.com.au/
    http://www.drive.com.au/
check for demos, some of them only have 200km or so.

We didn’t get any extras or accessories with ours, the stock car pretty much fleeced us so have to wait a while for those. I haven’t seen a list of what is available in OZ, anyone know if there is one? I didn’t realize there were so many accessories for the multivan until I came across the international web site http://www.volkswagen-commercial-veh...startline.html
I have enquired about a couple of things and the dealer said they were available but the price he gave me was pretty hefty. I’d say you’re wise to bring over what you can.

    Cheers,

    Ben.

Here's the Australian site for VW

    http://www.volkswagen.com.au/vwcms/m...le_Movers.html

Go to the facts and figures link (prices and info material) and click on the PDF for techincal data to look at options etc.

    Regards,

    Scott

    Welcome Ben

I think you'll find that our range of options is rather limited to what Europe has.

As you have seen the options are expensive.

    Van looks great.
If it were mine, I`d have to paint the pillar between the front and rear windows black too.
