Just had my windscreen replaced due to stone damage. Thankfully I have a glass policy on my insurance.....the window guy said not much change out of $3k for a new genuine fitted on a Multivan. It has to be genuine due to the rain sensor. He said a non genuine for a Transporter was very cheap.

Not sure how accurate his figures are but it may be worth adding the glass policy to your insurance!

I second that.

The extra $50 - $60 per annum has already been a worthwhile investment for me. And it covers side glass too. If you really want to be frightened then get a quote on side glass.

It should only be a few hundred for a normal screen, but as the cars get more toys, the parts get more expensive.

Was in my ex-boss' Landrover, it had a fine wiring to defrost the windscreen, barely visible... Hate to have to pay for a new one of those...

I thought the rain sensor is on the back of the rear view mirror mount? My windscreen incorporates the radio antenna. Though this would be no great loss as the external antenna (GPS/mobile/radio) evidently has better reception...

It's worth paying extra for the window coverage and Seano is right about it covering the side windows. My mate works on the call centre at O'Brien and he said you'd be horrified at home much windows cost especially when you put sensors and defrost into them.

It is, there is a round black plastic piece that is bonded to the windscreen, the mirror base with sensor inside clips into it.
