Thread: Where's my VW quality gone?

    Where's my VW quality gone?

My my11 comfortline seems to be much different in build quality to all the other VW I have owned.

I have a rattle under the bonnet, yet to be found by two different dealers.

The part on the boot lid that holds the number plate lights came loose, on closer inspection all four nuts came off and I nearly lost it. I fixed it with lock tight and a socket.

One of my rear parking sensors stays on all the time, unable to work out why

In its first 12 , months its done 24,000 k's and gets well looked after. I must say, as brilliant and practical as it is, I'm very hesitant to get another at the end of its lease.

The pluses do outweigh to negatives, but build quality is not what I expected.

On a good note, fuel use is under 8's towing or not, it has ****loads of room and ride comfort is second only to a Mercedes Benz e class. ( in my opinion anyway)

Your parking sensor fault intrigues me........Is it factory parking sensors, or locally fitted?
Do you have a RNS510? If yes, does the parking sensor screen appear when the sensor is going off?

Probably not the problem in your case, but is it the towbar?? Mine stays on when the towbar is fitted, the angle of the sensor must pick it up.
I also had a rattle in the dash of my MY11, it ended up being the instrument cluster. It for some reason wasn't fitting in right. After it was replaced the car has been nice and silent...

That's a bit harsh. The number plate holder was maybe removed when the dealer fitted no plates and they didn't tighten it. The parking sensor could have the dirt in them or was dislodged by small branches when you park close to the vegetation. The recalls are more common than ever before for any brand of vehicle you buy these days.

Seems to be a little bit of nit picking going on.

The rattle under the bonnet could be anything and I can empathise that its an irritating thing to have - my complaint would be with the dealer here, its their job to find and fix these things.

Number plate is a dealer thing also.

Parking sensor could be anything, ours are iffy when it rains cause the water sets them off. Have you spoken to the dealer about this? You're still under warranty.

    Could be worse.

Word of advice - don't venture into the Golf or Polo forums!

Tis all good, just wanted to vent. Dealer will address it all, that I know, just after so many VW cars with nothing ever going wrong, this one seems a bit out of league.

Sensor is a strange thing....others are fine, just the middle on drivers side. Factory fitted.

Rattle is in the engine bay, just gotta find what it is doing it.

Will have it all checked out when the recall is done.
