Whats my T5 worth?

All of the above demonstrates why I'm still driving the 2001 build T4 I bought new back in early 2002.....

To replace it with a similar spec new one.....I'd have to pay more than what I coughed up eight years ago. Even after the trade-in.

2002 buy price = ~$45K drive away (with air & cruise)
2010 trade in value = ~$8K (if I was very very lucky)
2010 buy price (T5 dual cab 4Motion) = ~$57K drive away (assuming no options)

All for a vehicle that does very little better in the real world than what the my current one does. Even trying to get more on a private sale won't help me.

I'd be financially better off in the long run simply mechanically restoring the thing every ten to fifteen years or so....only ten to 15 grand at a time - as opposed to fifty grand!

Looks like the T4 will be the last new car I ever buy.....perhaps even the last car full stop.

$37,000 for 8 years is cheap motoring.
I didnt pay much more for my 09 demo Caravelle than you did for your T4 in 2002, so you dont have to pay $57k to get that replacemet vehicle.

No....I'd probably have to pay around $50K. As a private buyer, that's just too much for me these days. If I was in business then it'd be different....but as an average consumer...my new car days are over. Just the way it is.

Besides, there aren't many deals to be had on a 4motion dual cab because they simply aren't stocked in any real quantity.....if you prefer a front wheel drive DSG dual cab, no worries as there's quite a few in stock......but it seems they are still $55K driveway.
