Yep, I got windows installed to help this and has been a game changer. So much more comfortable reversing, checking blind spots, etc.
This might seem like a strange/stupid question but it's bugging me, I've just got a transporter, my wife has an amarok when I'm driving the Amarok, like any 4 door car, I can turn my head and look out the rear side window at 4 o'clock or 8 o'clock to see if there are any cars coming from the side but I can't do that in the Transporter.
Let's say I'm backing out of a car park, I need to see if there are cars coming from the left or right - I find that almost impossible to do in the transporter. A camera wouldn't help since it's looking straight back like the existing sensor. I'm not sure if there is an answer but 'normal' people seem to be friving vans without consequence so I must be missing something![]()

my van has no windows at all down each side. Just have to be careful merging with traffic and reversing. Those stick-on convex mirrors help too.

Strange isnt it , I just ordered flat ones for our T5.1 as those convex ones give a very bad impression of how far away a car is when changing lanes . It has driven me nuts for years as I am constantly looking over my shoulder to see how close I am to other cars . My early T5 2004 has the flat ones from factory and have never been a problem ,in fact they do have a very tiny convex shape at the bottom of one and outside edge of another . There is a thin line where the two surfaces meet and when going to change lanes I can easily judge how close a car is because if its either under the line or outside the line then its safe for me to change . Once the car appears in the flat section then its too close .
I don't really use the convex ones for distance, it's just so i know if there's someone there, outside the field of the VW mirrors

Time to look into retrofitting the rear cross-traffic alert![]()
