What would you do, update or hang on?

I spoke to me dealer and it seems if you're after a dsg T5gp then it's about a 6 month wait.
My van is a June '07 build, 139,000km and in July next year will have a final payment of just over $19,000.
My extended warranty also runs out at this time. The van should have over 155,000km by payout time.
Other things to consider: I assume MY13 will be released after Euro summer break, say after August 2012 so waiting six month's from now means possibly wait a bit more and it's MY13 model time. Then the issue is what specs could a MY13 have etc.. And then the dealer made the comment that T6 could be a 2013 year release.

    Summing up:

    1. I could just order now and most likely get last of MY12 build and if delayed it may become a MY13 by chance.
    2. Order now stating I want a MY13 build but fly blind on the final specs. Not sure how this works?
    3. Refinance the balloon for say 2 more years to a zero balance obviously and then update somewhere in between keeping some money aside for possible maintenance.
    4. Any other advice/options welcomed.

    Cheers.

Just get it over with and put in the order. It is a tool not a toy.

The other thing to note is that given the new engine & transmission range with the MY12 build and refresh then there's no reason to expect that the T6 will be significantly different except in terms of looks and the odd trinket.

Also I'll wager that T6 will be a 2013 release but in the MY14...so second half 2013 delivery at the earliest.

I had the same dilemma 2 years back. I decided to wait for the T6. That's right it's the tool not a toy, so I don't care much about refreshed look. More important is the reliability and if it doesn't cost you much in extra repairs and the van is in good condition then it would be waste of money. The new T6 will serve my business better then upgraded T5, that will look outdated when the T6 is out or even worst when the T6 is on the roads for 3-4years.

IMO, wait closer to the end of contract, buy a new T6.
