Amen to that Transporter .
Haha, you're right. You never know, when the most reliable vehicle could go so bad that you wish you never bought it.

Amen to that Transporter .
All in the last 10 days (decided to keep the T4 Velle instead of upgrading to T5 multivan)
-Audi Q5 17" alloys with new tyres fitted
-twin 9" DVD headrest system hard wired in.
-12v outlet fitted into the bottom of the auto gearstick casing, discrete and practical
-12l waeco fridge installed next to hand brake, mainly because it has cup holders
-timing belt, pump and pulleys changed at volks home. Great job, it sounds and drives 300% better
-ATF, Filter and gasket changed. No more shudder at cruising speeds.
-first layer of stone chip/scratch touch ups applied
-ordered FK street shocks and prints, should be arriving next week (I'll be looking for a fitter soon)
Have you used this product on car bumpers before ... looks great but just wondering about longevity?
tried it out on the rear bumper, late 2014, first.
Rear still looks ok, could do with a refresh, but haven't bothered. It's not bad enough yet, still better than the bare weathered look as above

There are a couple of products for the bumpers one is Back to Black more for the T4's which have black ones , then there is a Turtle product for the grey ones its more of a a clear revival coat works quite well you can get quite a few months before needing to be redone .
I use a product from Meguiar's called ultimate protectant [dash & trim restorer] on the black bumpers of my T4. The previous product was called trim detailer. It's white as it comes out but can be used for black or grey plastic & rubber.
It works well but would say it's more for maintenance rather than restoration.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Had one of the passenger electric window regulator cables go bang recently, jamming up(cable frayed at end) and breaking the plastic window clamp in the process.
Tried VW for the clamp first. "Not available as a separate part" according to the parts guy."We can sell you the whole regulator for $325 though". Pass.
Ebay from UK Window Regulator repair kit $20 delivered. Two clamps plus cables(luckily, as i needed one) plus few other bits.
Just fitted it all, everything works again.Only hard part was refitting the cables, ended up being a two person job.Made up a tool to help compress the cable springs. The cables have to be very TIGHT.
If you ever need to do this, i wound the cable drum first and fitted it, then fed the cable, after compressing the springs, over one of the pulleys.
