If the servicing is done properly it should help extend the life of the trans. It sounds like you have had some poor work done on your cars in the past. A couple of months ago I changed the Haldex oil on our Tiguan. It had only been changed once [according to the service records] at 60,000km service at a VW dealer in Sydney for the previous owner. When I tried to undo the filler plug it just turned, it was stripped. I had a fair bit of trouble removing it. It's a 10mm thread screwed into aluminium & only needs from memory 15Nm. These cowboys are wrecking our cars so I understand your reluctance to have the oil changed. It's no good taking your chances with any service centre & hoping that the guy that works on your car does quality work. I apply this same principle to the tyre fitter who replaces my tyres after a damaged rim on a previous GTI that I owned.

Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
