    Angry Waterpump on T5 TSI MY14 20k

    Hi Guys,

I have a T5 TSI My2014, just out of warranty and the waterpump failed last week.

I m getting it back today but it s going to be quite pricey ($1,600 if I remember correctly).

Is it normal for a water pump to fail so early (only 20k km), is there anything I can ask VW ?

    Thank you

It's more the age than anything.

Which water pump failed, and how?

Although judging by what you paid, I'm guessing the one buried under the intake manifold had sprung a leak.

I would have a go for some sort of goodwill contact VW Australia the dealers wont bother as they have to pay their own labor so its not good for them financially , 20,000 kays is not acceptable yes I know its just over 3 years but that is no excuse for failure of a vital part . If it is caused by corrosion then obviously VW are using crap metals or their rust corrosion inhibitor is crap .

    Not a goodwill warranty!
Isn’t ACCC law clear about it?
Just take the car to your dealer and say “it’s not unreasonable to expect that the water pump should last longer than 20,000km or 4 years”
Therefore, I’m using my consumer right to repair under statutory warranty.
Law is on your side, that should be a free fix, if it’d have happened in our hosehold.

Question Water Pump, drive belt ..Lemon?

    Hi guys,

    I have a multivan 2014 TSI (Petrol), only 31k

I had to change the water pump (plastic pump !) & timing belt 2 months ago, $2k and now the turning drive belt is worn and need to be changed ($500),

Are these normal for such a low k ? or is my Multivan turning into a lemon ?

I wanted to buy a VW for my wife (new Touareg), I have changed my mind., not reliable.

    edit : turning drive

Hi damdam, reading your last post it looks as though VW didn't come to the party re goodwill?
Did you try the ACCC as Transporter had suggested?
