    Wading depth / breather kits. T5.1 4motion

I understand the wading depth of my 2011 T5.1 was 300mm. I've lifted it 30mm which helps up front, at least.
I'd like to increase the wading depth further. I'd appreciate comments.

When the van was new I had a small oil leak from the auto trans. Initially VW replaced a breather pipe and the technician made an offhand comment that the longer breather would increase my wading depth. I thought no more about it.
I have seen breather kits referred to but can't find any for sale. Surely this isn't a difficult mod without needing a "kit"? I imagine diff as well as transmission requires attention.
I look forward to any suggestions.

    Thanks folks.

It might be 300mm in still water but I wouldnt be entering running water in any van as it presents a solid side and not too much water will sweep it sideways.. After being pushed off a causeway in a tractor and trailer I have a better respect for the power of water.

    Hi Hillbilly,
I can appreciate your experience! I've seen other vehicles washed sideways. However, I'm not thinking of fast flowing water - certainly with the cross section of a T5! Actually, it's the Gibb River Rd I'm considering. The Pentecost R would be the greatest worry.

I'd be pretty sure 400-450mm would be fine re ingress of water. With leaky door seals that would mean footwells would get wet, but little else. However, if there ARE breathers (diff and/or transmission) to worry about, I'd like to know.

I've got a 200,000 service coming up so will see what the experts have to say at that time.

    Thanks for your reply.
