    VW t5 2011 biturbo- egr dpf & remap Q’s

Hi guys- has anyone on here done the above? My t5 has had the dpf light pop on and off on the dash a few times this past few weeks, last time this happened the egr went and I had that replaced- I’m not looking at replacing any more of the exhaust parts as it’s a daily driver and does a fair bit of small trip driving. I am thinking of doing away with the stuff that’s causing the issues.

I have been quoted around 2k for the work which involves-

    Egr switch off
Dpf - cut open, internals removed, rewelded back together to look like it’s still in place. Delete dpf sensor
    Remap ecu + 25bhp + 50nm torque

I am really looking for some advice to who has done this- pros cons ect

Thanks for any advice in advance-

    J

    I think it’s worth doing.
I did my 2010 biturbo at 140K when it started losing oil.
Was quoted $1300 to remap and blank EGR. I don’t know if the DPF was gutted or not.
Oil loss got worse so at 185k had engine replaced.
Runs well, is punchy, and more economical.
Occasionally I get a fault that says Exhaust Gas temp high - I just reset with OBD tool or VCDS.
Only had fault code once with the new engine.
If your EGR version is not a “D” or newer then I would definitely get it done.

It might be sensor fault but, I’d investigate it, just in case that EGT sensor is correctly reporting high exhaust gas temperatures. You don’t want to risk engine damage or replace the turbo because of that. The EGR does indeed lower exhaust gas temperatures.

Thx Transporter for suggestion. I’ve had the EGR blanked, so I’m not sure if the sensor is reading accurate information.

It says the S3 sensor is 1000 deg!
Van was off at the time.
I feel like it’s not causing damage, but might get it looked at if need be. Would appreciate your opinion.
    Cheers.

Check the sensor output in vcds, if it’s static 1000degC when engine is cold, then it’s obviously faulty. However, as you warming up the engine if it’s registering properly, the EGR gas temp. has risen (probably as the result of EGR blanking), if that’s the case, remove the blanking plate to see whether it corrects itself.

    Hi T511
Plenty biturbos experiencing high oil consumption, egr and dpf delete common preventive measure,
My new angina arrived in Perth just today, definitely doing delete both dpf and egr.
Had my egr blocked off for a while now, physically with plates, I diy egr and dpf,
Last quote for remap was just under $1000, expensive I thought,

On the high oil usage you may want to check out this FB page.VW T5.1 / T6 excessive oil use for CFCA 2.0 180hp engines. public group | Facebook

I'm in the same boat I would like to get the EGR Cooler blanked and mapped out to save my engine. So i'm looking for someone in Brisbane to do this.
    2014 T5 132Kw Twin Turbo, 2016 "D" Suffix EGR Cooler, 4 Motion, 7Spd DSG + Diff Lock, Frontline Camper.
