I think it’s worth doing.
I did my 2010 biturbo at 140K when it started losing oil.
Was quoted $1300 to remap and blank EGR. I don’t know if the DPF was gutted or not.
Oil loss got worse so at 185k had engine replaced.
Runs well, is punchy, and more economical.
Occasionally I get a fault that says Exhaust Gas temp high - I just reset with OBD tool or VCDS.
Only had fault code once with the new engine.
If your EGR version is not a “D” or newer then I would definitely get it done.
