    Head gasket is pretty expensive, I think.

    Oil Usage Issues in 2011 T5 Transporters - known internal VW Issue.

    I purchased a 2011 VW T5 transporter. At 60,000 it started using heaps of oil, around one litre every 300-500km. This in turn caused issues with sensors inc the particulate sensor. Over the following years of taking it to different mechanics they suggested it was a problem deep in the engine. I finally took it to a VW dealer and despite them informing us on day 1 that there was in internal memo stating that there was oil issues (the engine overheated and became mishappen where they pistons enter thereby causing oil to leak out with time) with the 2011 T5 Transporter it took us 2 years of harassing VW to finally get them to replace the engine.

    I am sharing this information with the club for anyone else with oil usage issues in a 2011 T5 transporter. There is nothing on-line and no recalls etc for this product.

    You dont honestly believe VW would admit a problem , look back over the last five or so years . VW have repeatedly ignored or fobbed off customers who have had problems , the only time they took any action was when they were exposed via media doing stories on them . DSG failures in Golfs and others engine issues in some models causing them to just stop without warning . It took me two years to get a gearbox problem fixed and even though I had evidence of a design fault it finally took the ABC to intervene and get a resolution .

    Laney695 My 12 multi using 2L/1thkm, had a vw oil consumption test done just last week, vw insisted on fixing a phisical gasket oil leak first, just done today, now next 1000km oil test

    I think they just tried to get too much power out of the same engine.
    My CAAC motor doesn't use any oil between services. (single turbo)
