Not quite Gold Coast, Boettchers at Bundamba near Ipswich has been good for me. Service book in people are always helpful. Last service on my T5 included tyre rotation in the schedule. Was told this at drop off. Something like $100 came off the cost of the service when I told them to leave the rotation out. As usual, they decided the wiper blades needed renewal and rang mid service to ask if they should change them for me. I always go through the printed service report afterwards and have not had any concerns.
I don't know how to measure honest or good with T5s. You have not had any other replies so only telling of my experience. This mob are about 80 K from Southport if you want to try them.

K & G Automotive Ferguson St Slacks Creek Specialist German car repairs , I had the wifes 2012 T5 serviced there recently . Good pricing compared to dealers and they listen to you rather than ticking boxes like they do at dealers . Rang at 1pm all finished Log Book filled out as well .

Can someone please tell me- to keep the manufacturers warranty, does it need to be serviced by a VW dealer?
We recently had ours serviced through a VW dealer, and if I'm honest it was purely because I couldn't be stuffed shopping round, it was a "capped" service ($480), its close to us and in my mind I think it's easier to sell later down the track with all log books showing it was maintained by VW.
On the same token, when you actually read the work that is supplied in the VW service, it really is a rip off... I mean seriously, the only "work" done is a oil/filter change and quick LOOK at the rest of the fluids and tyre pressures (assuming they don't just kick the tyres to check!). I reckon they'd be able to the entire service within 30mins including a road test.
So what do you guys think? Dealer or no?
(Keeping in mind we bought the van new)

Shove the dealers far up you know where , all they are good for is any warranty and even then they will stuff you around big time . Service personnel have no real clue about the cars they are booking in and you get vague answers when you question them . Our first service of our new van in 2012 was a joke , the seatbelt was jamming on and you could not release yourself unless you moved the seat back almost .I had 30 years experience fitting seat belts and new them inside and out , but do you think the service person believed me when I wanted to book it in for replacement . No I had to do a round trip of 80 km for a tech to inspect the belt before they would approve the replacement , took him all of ten seconds to see I was right . So the van went in and there was an issue with the front doors out of adjustment they rebounded worse than a Chery Car from China [no wait that would be an insult to Chery they were shutting better than the German built van was] . So after waiting a whole day for first service adjust the doors and replace a seatbelt satisfaction was zero . Yes they replaced the belt but made me wait and extra hour until 6pm because the tech was having problems fitting it {BS] should have taken 10 minutes maximum . Doors were not fixed the reception person after being questioned about the doors had the gall to tell me they "lubricated "the doors to fix the problem . Hopeless was the only word I could use and I never took the van back again , I have now found two independent techs who I would rather pay for service and honesty and value for the work they do and yes they are both VW trained .
