Thats not a lot of KM in either vehicle, like all insurance, if you have it, most of the time you don't need it.

But if you don't have it, you most likely will need it.

Just read this and thought I would tell you my story. I had a MK6 Golf R and at the 2 year an 9 month mark all the DSG issue stories started to surface so I spent 2K and got the Alliance extended warranty.

1year and 9 months go by and I sell the car with the transferable warranty thinking I have blown my dough. I get a call from the new owner asking for the paper work on the extended warranty to be filled out and signed so he can take it over. He spends $75 transfer fee takes the car to VW and has them look at the gearbox.. Sure enough they have to replace it for 12 grand... Best $75 he ever spent.

I now pay for the extended warranty

I might look at the the Allianz extended warranty before the VW warranty runs out.

So ill have plenty of time to think about it, i believe you have to do it before the VW warranty expries.

Looks a lot cheaper to get the standalone Allianz warranty over the VW Dealer Allianz backed version.

Shame you have to consider a extended warranty, but seeing how many people have had DSG issues, a $2k policy might we cheap as chips in the long run.

Isn't the running joke "VW's second most common accessory on a new car purchase the extended warranty option"?
