On a T5 the dealer will be using 5051 or 5052 and will be using Guided fault finding which will draw the code and guide them through the fault diagnosis track, it will also work through a fault table. So there isnt any excuses for not knowing what a code is. Thats a lazy excuse mann:

The capacity to have auto dipping of passenger side mirror when selecting reverse seems to be a hit-or-miss thing on VWs. Lots can't do it (regardless of whether you know the codes or not). May need to have memory seats on some vehicles ? If you do a search on various VW internet forums it is a topic that comes up regularly (particularly for Golfs, but unfortunately IIRC T5 electronics are more like Polos).

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

rear sensors needed for mirror dipping

    hi baldy

from my roamings in this forum, i think you need rear parking sensors to have the mirror dipping feature.. do a search on 'mirror' and you'll be able to read along like i did

Again they use 5051 or 52 and coding convenience electrics or body electrics now also gets done through guided fault finding the workshop manual will not give you a code, thats why they cant tell you. The program is in 5051 and its a walk through program.
    Cheers
