Isn,t it a shame the days of big engine brute powered vans has past , the throb and absolute pull of a V8 would be amazing , silly question is the van for road use as I would imagine you would have to address some pretty strict safety and engineering regs to get it road legal . In saying that back in the early seventies I had a Toyota HiAce 1600 cc van and I shoehorned a Holden 186 6 cyl with a powerglide auto and holden diff into it ,an that sucker absolutley hauled ass , {admits here did the whole thing myself and I am not a mechanic and never changed the rego just drove it sedatly when the cops were nearby } Good luck with the conversion love to see some photos along the way .

t4 with aV8! sounds like a lot of fun. my old man had a 253 in his 3 tonne Mazda truck and I used to smoke up the rears in second gear off the light. Scared a few guys trying to go up the inside lane many a time!

I would have thought it was a reasonably easy conversion cause of the full chassis. I guess it would be a case of finding all the bits and pieces and then putting it all together. Really keen to see the pictures to be honest I reckon a holden V6 direct injection engine would be way sweet in these trucks.

Yeah, no thanks. I've seen enough broken ones to know better.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing how this project pans out.

Yes there is no substitute for cubes , I am a little disappointed that these days the trend is towards small engines with turbo,s etc . Whilst they do go and pretty quick as well the V series engines are the way to go , my work van T5 2.0 lt is a classic example of a small engine with no real performance I would go as far to say if it was loaded with the max allowable weight it would struggle to get up some hills or from a standing start as even with the small amount I carry mine struggles off the mark . Once rolling it is a good runner but you have to paddle the gears to keep it on the boil . But hey we have to think of the environment don,t we .

yet to see a direct injection V6 that broke without severe mistreatment. After all the basis for the engine is tested over 30 years. 195kw in my Dokka would rock my bloody world

We had one drop it's innards in the carpark as it rolled off the car carrier, but that's just the start.
