Sounds like a bit of work but we'll worth the effort by the sounds of it. I would love to do my drivers doors myself. But am scared of breaking some plastic.
After much research i decided to soundproof my T5 dual cab. I was only going to do this once so i wanted it perfect.
So my research told me i needed a layer of anti vibration (dynamat or similar) and a sound deadening layer.
I chose to use flashing tape that is used for roofing repairs. This is the same as dynamat and about 1/3 the cost. Buy it at bunnings for $33 for 75mm wide strip 10m long. You only need to cover approx 1/3 of the panel to get good results. I used 4 rolls for the whole van. I put it on every panel including innner and outer panels of the front door. You can get acess through the speaker hole.
The sound deadening i used was from www.silentsystems.com.au it is called "quietwave SQ29." I put it on every panel also.
The front doors i just glued at the top and let it hang down, cutting holes for speaker and wipers, then put panel back on.
Behind the dash i just tried to cut to best shape the slide it up.
The final stage was the top panel of the engine bay, again just cut to best shape and guide ove brake lines etc and just glued on front edge.
The results.
I started from the rear and had to drive in between stages. Every stage was significantly better. The noise was getting narrow and narrower to the front.
Then when i did the final engine bay panel. i started it and thought that it didnt make much difference, taht is until i drove it. No longer does the noise come up and through the windscreen rather i think it gets pushed down below.
It is now absolutely awsome. i never change the volume on the radio anymore and everything is muted.
Overall it cost just over $500 and about a days labour.
Could not be happier.

2011 T5 4MOTION Duel Cab Optioned up.
Just removed two front doors for a Forum members van , they are not that hard 3 torx screws at the very bottom of the trim plus one dead centre in a recess hole , remove centre of grab handle insert two more screws here . Now if you can buy a trim removal tool it makes life easy the 3 clips up the sides are a bugger to remove but you can pull the trim away and lever them out without the special tool . Now once the trim is released tilt it away from the bottom and push it upwards but do not pull it away from door just yet . There is a plastic clip which releases the door release catch again release it from the front and then unhook the cable there will also be a couple of electrical plugs for windows and mirrors plus there is a RED led around the lock button unplug this as well .
Thats some very good advice Sunny. I may give it a go sometime in the near future.

Sunny is spot on with the removal. I typed in T5 door trim removal on google and found the uk T5 site which had pitures etc which gave me the confidence to pull the door card so hard to get it off.
On the front doors i completely covered the inner panel in flashing tape. This alone made a big difference.
Dont bother trying to remove the inner panel it's way too hard.
As i said just take the speaker off and try to get as much tape in on the outer panel as possible.
When I did the van I am working on at the moment I put the sound deadener on the large silver inner panel and then covered the back of the door trim it self works a treat .

Attachment 11563door panel with flashing tape on, then I put the sound barrier over the whole lot by just gluing at the top and letting it hang down. Plastic panel then just pushed back on.Underside of bonnet/firewall. Center bracket just unbolted and drops out of way.
