    Turbo or Engine Mount

Today i was following a slow coach @ about 90kph and when the overtaking lane came up, I pulled out, dropped it into 5th and put my foot down..........as you do...........then there was a big bang.........I thought I'd blown a tyre but it was handling OK.......except it was making a noise at high speed/revs.
I pulled over and checked the tyres..........no blowouts......quick look underneath and in the engine bay and can't see anything immediately out of place.
Seems to only make the whirring noise at load and higher revs.........no smoke or dash lights (except the light bulb indicator that has been on for ages as I pulled the globes for the daylight running lights.)

So, I was thinking turbo.........but maybe it's an engine mount?

    Anyone any ideas?
I'll be having a closer inspection tomorrow morning in the daylight so anything to look for is appreciated.

I was hoping for something simple like that!
    First thing I'll check.
When I did the timing belt etc I was wondering how long before you should replace them.
I'm getting close to 400k now.
They look like you'd only be able to remove and refit so many times before all the spikes lose their grip.

Our older T5 128kw Turbo used to blow off the intercooler hose but it would belch black smoke and not accelerate , the useless circlip would not hold so rather than fork out huge bucks for the new intercooler I managed to fit a simple pk screw on either side and its still on there today longer than the circlips from VW lasted .

    Rats!
All hoses are attached as per normal.
Ran VCDS just in case.................no faults found.........bar an intermittent intake sensor......non critical it says.

Putting it up on the ramps to check underneath.

You could use this inexpensive tape. It has tensile strength of 700psi and it's selffusing.

That would be good but I'd have to get the hose out to wrap it.
I could hardly get the phone in there for the pics!
Looks like a handy thing to have on the road though.
