Might have a blocked catalytic converter.

Pull it out, and take the bus for a run and see if it makes any difference.

These things are meant to run on the expensive 506 grade oil from memory. Straying away from that won't do the cat any favours.

OK the TDI is all systems go again back on 12 pound boost & feeling good found the problem the hose to my turbo gague had hot spoted in a place you couldnt see or feel 3mmhole melted out of the line .
I found it after removing the aftercooler going in after the EGR valve & its down stream stuff I was gob smacked to see how much CRAP carbon was stuck in the inlet manifold & from the ERG valve into the inlet ports .
ist real black oily crap so suit up & gloves are esential you will need several sets of disposables lots of wiping rag /2 cans of throtel body cleaner & degreaser .
takes some time to scrape the gunk away as its about 4to5 mm thick in some places be carfull I used icecream sticks so you will need several of those .
I made a stainless steel blocking plate that goes in the pipe from the exhaust manifold end where it bolts on to the EGR valve no more crapy carbon for me .
You cant suck the stuff out of the inlet manifold without removing it so I scraped off what I could get to & left it at that
Took some happy snaps of the whole drama I have them on Flicker at the moment gunn a try & get them over here .
just got to scrub the carbon off the body now its pumping 12psi again & at lower RPM than ever .
No info out there on the net you just got to work it out & find a fix I hope this helps others .
Thanks Umai you gave me a clew I still got to look at the CAT thats next month . TC
