    T6 Multivan LWB Spare Wheel

It's just come to my attention (I haven't stuck my head under the back of the van) that I may have bought a vehicle with no spare wheel and also no tyre repair kit.

Based on the following from the specification document (or your experience with a LWB Multivan) is this the case?

Mine is a standard Comfortline with added towbar, leather/privacy glass pack.

Does it have the spare wheel holder under there? What size wheels are on it? The 18in wheel/tyre combo apparently doesn't fit under there. The tyre repair kit should be in a compartment under the rear row of sets.

The spare does need to be lowered to fit the towbar, so perhaps someone has forgotten to put it back in?

It has 17" wheels. I hope there is nothing in the drawers under the bench seat as this seat is in storage .

I'm not sure if the spare wheel carrier is under the back or not. I'll have a look this afternoon when I get home.

Ive heard that some T6 Multivans don't come with spare tire.

My T6 LWB with 17's didn't come with one, but i was advised of that at the time, i have a tyre repair kit with compressor under the drivers seat.

I ended up ordering a spare wheel carrier from the UK, and then fitted it with the spare rim and matching tire, i had already brought to fit under there.

i don't trust a tyre repair kit when i do long distance trips.

When you say doesn't come with a spare... is that because it's 17" and doesn't fit under the van? Or is there no provision to mount one there at all? Does a 17" not fit in the carrier? or is it removed on the AWD version?

Just wondering what the reason for it is?

In your case it sounds like there was a place for it? Assuming a 16" fits over the brake calipers it's rolling diameter should be close enough to the 17" wheel/tyre combo to work as a spare (although it's worth checking this).

    4Mo doesn't make any difference.

The width of the tyre is the main reason they don't fit.

The 16in won't fit over the caliper if it's got the big brakes, which I believe anything with a 17 does. A 17in steel Transporter wheel fits in the carrier though.

Ive got the big brakes and 17's, it fits with the 215/60 R17s that are on my van.

It just that VW don't have to give you a spare, they just put repair kit in some models.

A lot of car manufactures are doing that, i only knew as i was told it doesn't come with a spare.

All the mounting points under a T6 are still there, you just need a carrier assembly, which is 2 bolts a hinge pin and the carrier unit.

The Multivans have a wider tyre, from memory.

They do, its a 235/55 R18 if recall correctly

I can't see why it wouldn't fit, there is a heap of depth adjustment on the height side of the carrier.

There is two hinge pins for adjustment on the carrier, so it can be used to take wider tyres
