About 2 years ago when I inquired Cooper tyres didn't have enough load carrying capacity.
I have Coopers on my Disco and they have done almost 100,000 - ready to change in another 10K. Not bad - compound is a little hard for brakeing but they are good tyres.

I have had Goodyear G26 and Hankook RA14 on my T4 over the years and there is no doubt the Hankooks are far superior in terms of handling and road noise.
On my T5 I have the OEM Bridestone Duravis 16", which I am about to upgrade. I am going to 17" rims and Hankook RA's this week. $220.00 each.

I'm now well past 65,000km on my OEM Michelin Agilis 51 16" on Miyato factory alloy's and still have a fair bit to go. The slight shredding seems to have disappeared as well. Only rotation has been through scheduled servicing.

My 2008 Multivan has OEM dunlops (16 inch). Very quiet tyre. Seem to be wearing fine at 15K. No idea what they cost.

I just saw a Multivan with a Yokahama Geolander HT/S tires fitted. They looked good but owner was not around to ask questions. Funnily enough they are the same tyre the shop guy suggested as a possible replacement.

Hi Tombi,
I always reckoned the 17" steels looked better than my std 16"s. Can I ask where you got them, and price (PM if preferred). I can't complain about my OEM Michelins. 50K and still going strong, but I'll probably be looking for a change in the next year or so.
And Tornado,
What's the story with the 'slight shredding'. I have something similar happening on mine (doesn't seem to have affected the life though). I was blaming it on my Cape Yorke trip (lots of fast gravel roads), although I didn't notice it till a good while later. Maybe it IS a tyre fault. Have you done a lot of gravel road/off-road travel?

Yeah same here Brian, something about the 17 steel rims. I bought the rims from a friend who had bought them for the tyres alone. He has a 2005 (i think) T5 and was complaining about the high cost of the Michelins and was lucky enough to find a good set of 17" rims with tyres.
IThey cost me $60.00 per rim.
Mind you I did see a set of 4 on ebay in June.I didn't bid at the time, cos I didn't have a T5.

Sure have, the T5 is used to deliver to farms a few times a month. On the biggest run, say 15-24 farms in one day, 450km round trip, with a starting load of 1500-2000kg using a trailer. There is more wheel spin on take off especially until the load drops down near the end of the run. Probably about 10-15% of the total 66K km now travelled but when the greatest loads are usually carried. Because I don't remove the second row seats, when I carry a load it's alway behind the cargo barrier in the back third of the van so i'm guess i get more front wheel slippage....then again I could be completely off base, lol.
