Thanks for the info as I'm looking at exactly the same spec. Is your 2nd row seats a Techsafe brand with headrests and armrests. They make a couple of models called Excel and Premier. I agree the Caravelle 3 seater and Crewvan 3seater are much better seats for long distance driving. You can buy Caravelle seats in the UK and apparently iirc their trim matches a Transporer. The hassles is all the engineering, which is totally unnecessary if VW Aust woke up and offered something closer to their UK family. I was thinking of using a much thicker wooden flooring to try and recess the mountings for aftermarket seats. Is the position further back of the aftermarket seats a necessity for leaving enough room for when folded forward to avoid touching the front seats if they're slid back as far as possible?
In my quote I asked for factory wooden floor and then rubber floor on top of this which is on my current T5. I'm glad to hear you feel the drivetrain is better again over the T5GP, as the Merc's 7sp auto offers much smoother driving to my last experience of a Transporter tdi340 with dsg.
