T6 radar cruise control alignment ?

    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can describe the procedure to align the radar cruise sensor behind the front grill.

Our van went into a dealer to have a damaged radiator replaced, but now they are telling us they cannot get the sensor aligned because the grill is damaged.

To me it looks like the sensor is fitted to an assembly behind the grill, and the grill is more like a trim.

As the alignment can’t be done, there is no cruise control at all. Having now driven from Canberra to Sydney return and Canberra to Melbourne return, “old school” with no cruise; I now want to get it fixed.

I’m after an idea of what’s involved to be sure the dealer isn’t pulling the preverbal over me.

    Thanks

    Cristian

First step would be attempt to run static alignment which needs nothing more than a wall and suitable diagnostics tool.
If that fails due to misalignment then yes the mounting/bracket etc needs to be looked at.

Is the static alignment just done through VAGCOM Settings or is there a specific procedure ?

    Yes VCDS or OBD11 etc.
Basic settings. Car parked 1.5m away, perpendicular to a solid flat surface (ie a brick wall) whilst on a level surface.

The initial step virtual plinko game show vibes would involve attempting to execute a static alignment, requiring only a wall and an appropriate diagnostics tool. If this attempt fails due to misalignment, then further examination of the mounting or bracket becomes necessary.
