Turns out my T6 Comfortline LWB actually has a spare so it was either fitted by VW (my vehicle is an ex VW demonstrator) or the spec sheet is wrong.
Tiny space savers or puncture kits on little city cars is far less of an issue and probably saves fuel (because of weight) and if you break down it's in the city anyway so easy enough to deal with...
A big 2t Van on the other hand... maybe not a space saver and as has been said I wouldn't want to rely on a puncture kit 300km outside of the CBD.

spec sheets aren't normally 100% correct, although they should be.
Just make sure you have the jack and the other tools attached to the rear wheel well.
Nothing worst the getting a flat tire and no tools or jack, or a flat spare being flat as well

Yeah I have the jack (which I don't really like) and the wheel brace. They are tucked inside the left rear guard space.
With our previous T5 we had somewhat larger than normal tyres and I had to put the spare hanger on its lowest position . Once I got the wheel inplace on the hanger I would use the jack to actually force the wheel up high enough to engage the first hanger bolt then I had to wind the second one up until it was tight . Bugger of a job to get it out when you actually have a flat rear tyre too , the van was lowered which made it a swearing and sweaty job to do .
Just realised my ‘12 multi has no spare wheel, only puncture kit!
I just wish Europen manufacturers would wake up to local conditions here in Aus . If they saw the sort of roads we have to cope with they would change their way of thinking . Last year I was coming back from a job west of Brisbane and there was a piece of metal that was dropped from a tradies ute or a truck on the road , it completly destroyed the tyre and if I had a space saver it would have cost a fortune to get a tow truck or flat bed to get home again . Many country roads can be just as brutal .
I’ll source a spare brace and fit a spare for sure

hi
can you remember where you bought your mounting brackets from ? i have the same issue with my Multivan with 18'' rims..no spare wheel supplied or a mounting bracket.
I bought from a wrecker, make sure all bits included, the brace + lock pin + two bolts with rubber spacers
