T6 Multivan gunk under front doors. What would be causing this?

    Hello,

T6 2018 Multivan going well. More recently have noticed the gunk in photos that appears to be coming from the front door drainage holes.

I have no idea what could be causing this, only vague suspicion I have is the window washer additive I'm using.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

    Cheers, JP

That looks more like road grime thrown up by your front wheels , Your mudflaps are too low should and look like rear ones that don't protect your paintwork .

    Is the grime more oily?

The inside of the doors are sprayed with a waxy substance. Hot days melts the wax, add a bit of water some dust and you have this gunk.
Eventually it will stop. Pay particular attention to washing the lower part of the doors.

VW have been doing this for years, my'01 T4 still has some of this preservative under the doors. I would only clean off the wax that offends the eye & leave the rest to protect the panel from any future rust. We are fortunate in Aust. to own vans that are built to a higher standard of rust protection that is needed in Europe's harsher climate.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

I have a 2016 T6 and as previously mentioned I'm of the same understanding it is part of the rust protection. It's like a wax and when it gets hot it melts runs out the bottom. It's a PITA if it gets into your sponge when washing.

Thanks all for the replies. Good to know it's nothing more serious.

Will clean up separately, seems to come off easy enough.

    Cheers!
