    T6 Multivan

    Saw my first one on the road today (well, parked).

    Man, that is one underwhelming body facelift.

    Yes a bit hard to think they gave it a whole new code instead of T5.2

    When you look at T4 and T5, I think that they've brought enough changes in the current vehicle to call it the T6. It has a different dashboard and moderate body changes. Just compare the previous models right from the T1. The current one fits in the line.

    I'm bit disappointed with the choice of only 2.0L TDI, they should develop a new 2.5 or better still give it a 3.0L engine, yes there are 4cylinder 3.0L engines, no need for the V6. For ever extracting more power from the engine that originally lives in a small passenger car has its disadvantages, like reduced reliability and shorter engine life.

    Yes the dash is different that's for sure , showed that there was no local input into the placement of the drink holders . Who in their right mind puts drink holders in the top of the dash next to the windscreen ? oh wait I forgot in Europe they probably need warm drinks to get them through their daily commute . I have to admit they are a bit hard to spot from different angles , and yes engine choice is ridiculous . The old T4 2.5 petrol was a real barnstormer tough as nails , they should also have allowed the 2.0 Turbo Petrol model 150 kw nice !

    I am afraid as long as they only produce a 4 cylinder I will not be looking at one.
    I am convinced with all the documented problems with the 2.0 litre engine that it is too small for the size of a transporter.

    Yes I do agree as turbo forcing a 2 litre petrol or diesel would places some extreme pressure on pistons etc. You only have to look at what dramas they have had with the TSi in the Golf range , apparently the RON of the fuel in petrol is critical to longevity , use anything below 98 and you are asking for trouble . I always believe there is no substitute for cubes , my old Bedford CFS van had a 6 cylinder 202 135bhp/101kw@4400 Holden motor had heaps of power for a big van . The old Transits from the same era some had a 4 cylinder and they struggled to get up driveways { I know I test drove one and it failed miserably unloaded !!} At one stage back just around 2000 I was toying with buying a US Dodge Van from an importer converter in VIC brand new it was around $110000 in RH drive 5.2 litre gas guzzler ! .

    I have the 2.0 L engine and mine's still going strong even with the added weight of being a campervan ... hit another milestone this week!

    Yours is completely different cup of coffee to the later ones.
    But congratulation on the milestone.
