Actually in the US the large Transit version (Crafter size) has a 270KW V6 turbo so lighting up is to be expected.

My sister drove a MB Viano for 4 years. It was a piece of ....... For the money they want, there is plenty that goes wrong, and they will charge a fortune to fix it. Doors coming off hinges, fuel door constantly moving, suspension airbag in the back completely faulty. I would NEVER touch a MB after seeing what she went through.

Yes I drove a MB auto back in the past as a test drive , the dealer was a good customer of ours at the time and allowed me to bring their demo home for the night . As we live on a fairly steep hill the auto could not cope , on approach it was in 4th and then as the incline steepened it decided to go from 4th straight down to 1st engine screaming I backed of and bingo straight back to 4th van almost came to a stop . So I went around the block and tried again same thing but this time it went into "limp" mode and stayed there . Had to drive back to the coast next morning and sheepishly apologise to the dealer for the van being stuck in limp . So we went with the VW [admits here] that we have had a couple of limp modes with the older T5 tiptronic but at least after a restart it would be fine .

I will be very interested in the new Vito.
My patience with VW is very fragile at the moment. My local dealer has changed hands, and is no longer a family run business. It is now a part of a group consisting of Holden and Nissan just to name a few.
For the past week I have been trying to call the service department to book in a service on our Tiguan. I just cannot get through. The receptionist offers to take my details, and have them call me when they are not busy.
That is not good enough for me, as I cannot take calls all the time due to the nature of my work. I want to be able to speak to the service department when it suits Me, not when it suits them.
Maybe I am being a bit precious, but this is not the service I am accustomed too at my local dealer. That, and a few other little things like changing the brand of oil used at a service without asking me, have lowered my opinion of VW here in Australia.
Might be time for me to move on to another brand for our day-to-day vehicles.

IN2VWS: I also had dealer troubles, then called VW Customer Service directly. They assigned me with a "VW case manager" who got the dealer's service manager to phone me and arrange everything.

Some times you just have to jump up and down to make a point with these people . Our current service dealer was given adequate warning from myself that I would not tolerate ****ty service after the debacle with the previous VW dealer .
