Funny thing , as I type we have a Nissan Dualis as a hire car and it's a cvt, imho better then dsg I would say. VW loaned me an Amarok with 8speed ZF auto last service and that was great, swapped it for a T5GP when I needed more carrying cap. and wished I had the 'roks powertrain, so VW do have the powertrain available, just don't offer it in T5's. While my trusty '07 T5 with auto is smooth.

My 01' T4 with a 5 speed manual still has the original clutch...and it's as smooth as I am!

Drove a current Polo 1.2L petrol with the DSG...that was impressive.

New T6 is only another iteration of T5 so don't expect wholesale change a'la 4 to 5...though you'd hope the driveline was bang up to date!

I'm back to be a pessimist again and kind of accept that.
Though the new Vito looks good and with the consumption figures of 5.7L/100km it a very attractive option. So, somewhere deep inside I hope we're both wrong.

yep knew that, I think the Amarok has two versions depending on model one with slightly more torque, Tdi 420, so might be a slight tune difference.

Getting back to the new Mercedes vans. The 7-speed auto mentioned in conjuntions with the highest-spec engines only, meaning that the rest of the range may continue with the current 5-speeder.

Also, for the passenger version (Viano versus Multivan), MB still has not fixed any of the fundamental problems (since this is just a major facelift of MB, not a new platform):
    * still no side/curtain airbags for 2nd and 3rd rows (Multivan has both).
    * still no dedicated roof or side vents for 2nd or 3rd rows. MB has only limited floor vents between 1st and 2nd rows. (Multivan has air ducts in the roof cavity with vents for 2nd and 3rd rows, as well as sides of floor vents in the 2nd/3rd row area.)
    Multivan MY12 TSI350 Red. Previous: 2008 Tiguan 103Tdi. 2010 Tiguan 125TSi.

The rumours on the German based T5 board say the T6 will have a 3.0L capacity, 4 cylinder TDI with the Amarok's 8-speed automatic gearbox.

That should mean the logitudinal drivetrain configuration.

I hope not with rear wheel drive as the main reason we stay with VW is that it gives best inside headroom clearance for loading wheelchairs whacking a diff underneath may change all that . Although a 3.0 is sounding very nice .
