    T6 Clunk in Front Suspension.

Last year my 2017 T6 developed a clunking noise somewhere in the front drivers side - can feel it through the floor when it happens. Usually happens if there is a dip in the road (rather than a pothole), doesn't happen all the time. I've had the local workshop look at it a couple of times - all then can suggest is an internal fault in the front shocker. Has anyone else had this (or similar) problem? Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not a driveshaft?
T5's had a prob where the driveshaft splines would wear from lack of lube, causing clunks. More prevalent in manuals than autos, i think.T6s you would think should be ok but with VW you never know
Can you drive the same bit of road, and see if it makes same noise in neutral or with clutch pressed

My T5 wore out the shaft so badly the teeth were twisted sideways , it mostly made noise when cornering . But in saying that it could be the top of the front struts or the struts themselves .

Well I certainly hope it's not the drive shafts - it's only done 30,000k.
"Can you drive the same bit of road, and see if it makes same noise in neutral or with clutch pressed?" - I'm afraid it's not as predictable as that - usually happens on dirt road and travelling fairly slowly.

I've had a few not so great sounds coming from my front suspension when hitting a small bump or pothole & i've come to the conclusion that a bit of gravel from road resealing or gravel road has been crushed as the suspension compresses. It's happened a few times now & is usually after a stint on gravel or after driving on a recently resealed road. Usually only does it a couple of times then the sound goes away.

Ditto. I had a bad clunk that came and went after about half an hour of drive. It has never came back. I concluded it was a large stone thrown up by the tyre into the strut spring base some where.

Have you checked that nuts on the end of the stabilizer bar connecting rods, when one of mine was slightly loose it caused a noise like you describe.
