T5GP Crewvan listed on gov website.

I was surfing some websites and found through the Fed gov department responsible for compliancing vehicles (Dotar) a link to RVCS (Road Vehicle Certification System) that VW Aust have complianced 2 T5GP Crewvans (SWB & LWB) with dsg and awd. This I believe doesn't necessarily mean they will be sold here although it would be very unlikely that a company would go throught the application process, get approval and then decide not to import.

Anyone with more "inside knowledge" that could shed some light?

    Link to RVCS

Interestingly, (for me at least) is that the Crewvan in this listing ( in the bottom lhs "Remarks box" has stated the availabilty of 2 rear doors,
2 REAR DOORS IS OPTIONAL FOR ALL VARIANTS EXCEPT HIGH ROOF WHICH IS STD FITMENT ONLY
which I assume are the wing door options.

Looks to me like someone was trying to beat VW to bringing them in. Being Bi-Turbo, DSG, and 4Motion (Going off what's in the link).

It's kind of pointless as there's only a 6 month window to work with before VW started bringing them in.

It is a far from uncommon practise for car companies to get compliance on a wide range of types for a particular model in one go and then cherry pick from that list as to which ones to import in volume.

Ford has just done the same thing with the next Falcon XR8 update Ford 2010 Falcon XR8 - Ford blows XR8 | GoAuto

Did you notice that the van photo in the form is actually a stripped van? No rear seating.....unless it's very low and is provided sans headrests

Oh and 'Umai Naa!'....if you'd read the form properly you might have noticed that the licencee is listed as 'VOLKSWAGEN AG'......right at the top.
