T5 wheel and tyre import duties/pitfalls

    Hi all,

See my other posts but we are emigrating to Melbourne at the end of September. I am thinking about sending my wheels which I've had on my T5 here in the uk over to Aus . They look like new and would have new tyres fitted prior to shipping, I also have a courier lined up who can do a door to door service.

My first question is am I likely to incur any import duty on them? Second one is any experience or thoughts comments on this subject much appreciated.

    Cheers,

If you have owned them for over 12 months it there should not be any duties , the freight must be a bit of a killer as the weight and volume would mean they would have to come by sea . Not sure about the tyres as each country have different standards , yeah Australia seems to have separate rules to other countries so you may need to check for comparable standards . My mate imported Toyota Tundra Brand
new from the US had 5 kays on it and they made him change the tyres what a joke , seems the yanks are happy with whatever Toyota fitted but not good enough for our local bureaucrats .
